Blogging - What it Should Be?

What is a Blog and maybe more important what should it be?
(See What is a Blog from our MESPA Class Wiki)
I also liked the simplicity of the idea posed by Will Richardson in his blog titled Blogs Growing Up.
To be truly effective the blogger must read, and then maybe read some more. Think/Reflect/React. Then Write - probably think some more. Then Publish.
As less of an educator and more of a student of life, I do wonder if this pattern will cause our younger students to be reflective to a fault? Will students be able to think on their feet? WIll they be able to make judgements without verifying through multiple sources? I obviously don't know the answer to these questions, but it will be interesting to see.

Paul, you raise some interesting thoughts....what will the kids do as they get older? There is so much information so readily available to them that wasn't as readily available to us growing up. The more I see what's available to me, the more overwhelmed I get...maybe because I didn't grow up today....more to ponder, for sure!

While attending the Christa Conference today I was very impressed with how many people are using blogs, wikis and other web 2.0 tools compared to a few years ago. People will not read blogs unless they have a reason. One of the first blogs I started to read was Will Richardson when he was blogging about his tablet implementation in NJ. Once I realized there was a community of bloggers my interest grew.
